What makes a Qind product
Six practical tests for deciding whether a focused web product belongs in Qind.
Shared ownership is not enough. A Qind product should begin with a real question, deliver standalone utility, and make the basis of its answer easier—not harder—to inspect.
The question fits in one sentence
A person should be able to say what they came to resolve: How long is this taking? Which rule applies? How long until the date? How do I calculate this? Which option would people choose at these prices? A narrow question is not a small ambition; it is a useful constraint.
The sentence keeps scope honest. If the product cannot explain the question, it is likely to accumulate features before it has earned a clear answer.
The answer can show its work
Different questions require different evidence. A rule should point to its source. A countdown should distinguish a confirmed date from an estimate. A calculator should expose assumptions and a formula. A preference ranking should disclose how many choices support it.
Qind products do not need identical methods. They do need a way for people to understand what the result rests on and where its confidence ends.
The product stands on its own
Belonging to Qind should clarify provenance, not become a dependency. Each product keeps a name, domain, interface, and operating model suited to its job. It should remain useful to a visitor who never sees the Qind site.
That independence also protects scope. Data collected for one product does not become a portfolio-wide profile. Technical reuse is deliberate; data reuse requires a separate, explicit justification.
The work leaves a reusable lesson
A Qind product should teach something durable: how to state uncertainty, maintain sources, structure a comparison, test an interface, or find the smallest useful unit of content. The lesson may be positive or corrective, but it must be concrete enough to influence later work.

Transferable findings
- Write the user question in one sentence before expanding the product surface.
- Define the evidence and independence tests before treating shared ownership as a product fit.
Disclosure: Qind builds and operates every product used as an example in this note.
